How does this work? FAQs:
- What do I do to sign up for a Canary-gram for my loved one?
1) Email me at [email protected] and/or book a time to chat about the song. I consult with people on the phone or Zoom for up to 1 hour prior to the creation of the song so that I can get a sense of what to write. I will send you a Google Form you can fill out and tell me of funny memories you have with your loved one, genres of music you like, etc.
2) I will write and record a song, inspired by your "love story" - whether that love story is a romantic one, platonic, or mother-daughter, for example.
3) I will email you an audio recording of the song along with a document with the lyrics that you can print out and give as a gift to your loved one for a holiday or birthday or just any old day.
4) You may give back in the form of donation to my medical bill and music creation fund after you've received the song - I accept Paypal and Venmo donations and also really appreciate when people sign up at the $50/song level and above on my Patreon.

- Will the song be private, just between me and my loved one?
I try to keep my songs general enough to be relatable to and enjoyed by others, and even though you are helping inspire me to write these songs, they still are my compositions and my "art," so I prefer to keep the rights to publish the songs in future albums and share. However, when/if I share the songs, I can keep the information about who they were about or for totally anonymous and you can request that I even change elements of the songs in case anything seems revealing of your identity.

How much should I pay you for this custom song?
Why, thank you for asking! Money is weird, huh? Especially when it comes to making art. Because I am disabled and unable to work a traditional desk job in the nonprofit and international community organizing fields through which I used to gain income, I offer my gifts in the spirit of the "gift economy," a concept that takes some getting used to. It means that I would like for you to donate an amount that feels doable to you. I know that income inequity is off the hook in this country and world, so $150 to someone would be like pennies to one person and would be half the months' groceries to another. Also because I am disabled and trying to afford medical bills in a broken medical system, I don't have unlimited energy or resources and greatly appreciate reciprocity of some kind.
