Camp Canary

UPDATE: Camp Canary is on an indefinite hiatus and cannot accept guests. We are so sorry and hope for systemic change so that safe housing is accessible and affordable to all.

Camp Canary was an eco-conscious, artist-run healing retreat located in the Joshua Tree, CA desert.

In 2018, Kaeley left Seattle seeking healing, cleaner air
and land less likely to be filled with wildfire smoke, mold, and/or city smog. She found it in Joshua Tree. She soon met and connected with a flock of so many more kindred chronically ill "canary" artist nomads.  Kaeley realized there was a huge need for an affordable, donations-based gathering space outdoors for those whose bodies and Earth crises require them to live "out of the box." In January 2021, Camp Canary was born.

For now, the village of tiny guest pod buildings are only open to friends and family for overnight stays. Short and longer-term Artist Residencies are available on a case by case basis. If you'd like more information, you may:
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Follow us @Camp.canary on Instagram!

- Book a Sunset Serenade and Art Walk via Airbnb Experiences and visit in person

Camp Canary's mission is to provide a space for canaries of the world - sensitive souls feeling the imbalance of Earth and society's ecosystems more than the average person - to gather, shelter, express our stories creatively, and learn how to live as humans on this planet more sustainably together. Many canaries have fled here to the desert in order to heal, breathe clean air, live mostly outdoors rather than in moldy or toxic home environments, and find salve for the spirit with others in the flock.
